Death in Paradise

Hooten and the Lady

Death in Paradise is one of Tony's current shows on BBC. The British/French murder mystery hit is in its sixth series and still going strong. It initially featured Ben Miller as the slightly grumpy and thorough detective, transferred to the Caribbean to investigate the murder of a police officer. Miller starred for the first three series, but eventually quit as the intense heat became too much. His character was constantly seen traipsing around in a full suit, which Tony later told be was thinned out, and the shirt actually had no back to it. Kris Marshall then took over as the bumbling Humphrey Goodman, changing the style up completely from Miller's character. The love Actually actor went on to feature for the next three seasons before quitting, with rumours that he may be the next Doctor Who. Ardal O'Hanlon is the current lead actor.

A Dickens mash-up as Tony called it, combines characters from a variety of Charles Dickens' novels and puts them together on one street. This allowed Tony to write conversations and interactions between characters who had never met before in any literature. the show was centred around Inspector Bucket, who was investigating the murder of Scrooge's partner Jacob Marley. The series was well received by viewers and critics, however in April 2016, the BBC announced that Dickensian had been cancelled after only one series.

Hooten and the Lady is currently running on Sky one and depicts the tales of two treasure hunters, American Ulysses Hooten and British Lady Alex Lindo-Parker. the unwilling partners travel the world in search of treasures, from the Amazon Rainforest to the Himalayan Mountains. The show has been well received by critics, with the Guardian comparing it to Idiana Jones, and others calling it fun and retro.
