Tony joined the Eastenders writing team in 1989, and went on to write well over 250 episodes, spanning across around two decades. He is well known for co-creating the Slater family, who are now synonymous with the soap. He wrote the deaths of Arthur Fowler and Ethel Skinner, along with the Sharongate saga. Perhaps his most famous scene is the interaction between Kat and Zoe on the street outside the Queen Vic, with that infamous quote "you ain't my mother!". He was also the first writer to do Eastenders when it began airing three times a week. In 2007, Tony announced his departure from the hit BBC show, as he wanted to concentrate on his own work.
